We’ve worked with some truly outstanding and dedicated people over the years, all of whom have helped us to become the company we are today. Among our team are three generations of the Chapman family, John, David and Connor, who between them have just completed 60 years with us!
John started out as a trainee porter with George Barnes and Son Ltd back in 1967, and has been with us ever since. For 40 years he worked as a removals van LGV driver and packer, as well as a team leader, and is currently our Storeman. In this position, John is in control of our 20,000 square feet of commercial, palletised and furniture storage for our many customers.
His son, David, has just completed his 14th year with us, having started out as a porter and packer before rising through the ranks to occupy his present position as a removals LGV driver and foreman. As part of his role, he regularly leads his team when working on national removals, as well as removals to France (when required!).
John’s grandson, Connor, came to us when undertaking work experience 2 years ago, and once he left school, he was eager to come back. He’s just completed a one year apprenticeship course with us, and is now training as a removals porter and packer.
It’s fair to say that the Chapmans are certainly a knowledgeable family, and their experience is second to none! We’d like to congratulate them on their 60 years’ combined service, and look forward to working with the family in the future.
